History: 1960's -1980's
THE GROUP
In the Italy of the economic boom, Sassuolo confirmed its position as an industrial district, and as protagonist on the international market, affirming the technology and design of tiles Made in Italy. Colorobbia, right from the start, has been a privileged partner of this transformation which was confirmed by the opening of the factory in Fiorano Modenese (1962). This development was the start of production and of sales in the area of Emilia. Contemporarily capillary technical assistance was organized for the customers, with the opening of a commercial office integrated by a large and efficient development laboratory.
In this same period, with a new factory in Sovigliana Vinci, the production of micronized zirconium silicate began, later followed by grinding equipment and coverings for mills in ceramic alumina. of high density (1968). In the factories of Daniella -Vinci, where, frits and glazes had already been produced for several years; the production of lead oxides soon began.
The growing demand of the foreign markets began, at this point, to influence the strategy of activity and investments.
In the second half of the '70’s production activity was started in Brazil in support of the surrounding markets, while in Peru the first investments were made in companies dedicated to the extraction and the working of raw materials destined for the ceramic industry and not only. The presence in the Latin American markets was completed by the opening of a company in Mexico.
Contemporarily to this production unit,the process of internationalization continued at the end of the 1980’s through the first investments in the Asiatic areas, (Turkey, Thailand, Taiwan).
In that same period, coherently with the strategy of forward vertical integration, control was acquired of a mineral company operating on the island of Elba.
The expansion and diversification of the activity, with the presence of companies and factories around the world, confirm the effective birth of a real and true industrial group: the Gruppo Colorobbia.
