History: 1990's - today

THE GROUP

At the beginning of the 1990’s the foreign demand for ceramics became predominant thus giving further impetus to the process of internationalization of production and commerce already in act.

The internationalization of the of the producers of ceramics was caused above all by the search for the best cost conditions possible and the sales possibilities offered by developing countries. This determined the strong growth of the ceramic industry which in turn created a strong global demand for glazes and colours and the opportunities were immediately seized by the
Gruppo Colorobbia. The destination of the investments once again was directed towards countries that historically held a position of significance in the production of ceramic tiles

Spain in particular (
1990) at that time appeared as the most attractive place in terms of production efficiency and growth in the sector. In fact with its factory in Spain the Group consolidated its international presence at the service of the local markets but also with the prospect of supplying the developing countries that needed to strengthen their local ceramic industry.

With the new millennium, the expansion of the Group continues towards those geographic areas characterized by strong levels of development which is reflected in the high level of growth in the building industry. In particular subsidiaries and/or production units have been opened in the Russian Federation (
2004), and in China and Poland (2005).
Contemporarily, a continuous programme of plant improvement has been initiated in Italy updating them to meet the new requirements of markets in evolution, sustainability and responsible growth, and with the new factories realized in the industrial zone of Montelupo Fiorentino (
2000) and Civita Castellana (2007).

The growth of the group in this decade is enacted uniquely by direct investment (e.g. green field type) with the constitution of local companies which have the double function of both production activity and sales support.
This strategic choice confirms the will of the company to control group initiative from the Holding of the Group which is confirmed as one of the most international economic realities of the Italian ceramic scene, amongst the first to support its customers in the process of foreign direct investment (FDI).
