Cultural Development

SUSTAINABILITY

The Gruppo Colorobbia has always paid particular attention to those initiatives directed at encouraging the diffusion and the consolidation of the ceramic culture beyond his own region although the starting point was Montelupo, a small town in the surroundings of Florence, historically well- known for its ceramic art.

The majority of the cultural initiatives, from the eighties till now, have been promoted directly or through the Montelupo Museum Foundation, promoted by the president of the Group, Cav. Vittoriano Bitossi. Thanks to this Institution, an intense activity of historical and archaeological research has developed and has permitted us to rebuild, divulge and re-evaluate the ceramic history of Montelupo also through the means of numerous publications.

Today, we have taken another step towards completing the work undertaken so far: the new Vittoriano Bitossi Foundation is working to document, in addition to the history of its activities illustrated in the Bitossi Artistic Industrial Museum (M.A.I.B.), also the history of the ceramic activities of Florence beginning from the first decades of the eighteenth century up to the present day. For this purpose a Study Centre is being set up dedicated to the Ceramic District of Florence in the industrial age. The history of Italian ceramic design where the Manifatture Ceramiche Bitossi has had a role of prime importance with Maestro Aldo Londi and with the majority of the most important designers of the second half of the twentieth-century will be very much in evidence.

Furthermore, the support that the
Gruppo Colorobbia gives to humanitarian initiatives in education, health and the social welfare sectors, both in Italy and in those countries where the Group is present with its own production units, must not be overlooked.
